Chocolate Dumplings - cooking recipe

4 Tbsp. margarine
4 oz. cocoa
2 c. sugar
2 2/3 c. water
1/8 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. shortening
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. milk
Preparation

Combine margarine, cocoa, 2 cups sugar, water and 1/8 teaspoon salt in a 2-quart saucepan and boil gently on low heat 20 minutes. Make a cake batter of shortening, 1/3 cup sugar, vanilla, egg, flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, baking powder and milk. Beat well. Spoon batter gently into boiling syrup. Cover and cook over very low heat for 30 minutes. Serve hot.
