Chocolate Chip Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. boiling water
    1 c. chopped dates
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    2 heaping Tbsp. cocoa
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. nuts
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over dates.
    Cool.
    Mix shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Sift flour, salt, soda and cocoa.
    Add flour mixture to shortening mixture; blend well.
    Add date mixture.
    Pour into greased 9 1/2 x 13-inch pan.
    Sprinkle top with the sugar, nuts and chocolate chips.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
