Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 to 3 Tbsp. shortening
    2 1/2 lb. cubed stew meat
    2 medium onions, cut in wedges
    4 stalks celery, diced
    4 carrots, diced 1/2-inch
    2 cloves garlic
    1 1/2 c. V-8 juice
    3/4 c. sour Burgundy wine
    3/4 c. water
    1/2 c. tapioca
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp. basil
    1/2 tsp. marjoram
    bay leaves
    3 medium potatoes, cut in wedges
Preparation
    Brown meat in shortening.
    Add all ingredients except potatoes.
    Bake 1 1/2 hours.
    Stir occasionally.
    Add potato wedges and return to oven.
    Add more wine or V-8 juice if too thick.
