Ingredients

1 c. light brown sugar
1/3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
water
yolks from 4 large eggs
1/4 c. unsalted butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (9-inch) pie shell, baked
Preparation

Mix sugar, flour and salt in heat-proof bowl.
Pour evaporated milk in
a 2 cup glass measuring cup and add enough water to measure 2 cups.
Whisk eggs and 1/2 cup of milk.
Mix into sugar mixture.
Stir.
Add rest of milk.
Place bowl over simmering water and cook, stirring constantly, 12 to 15 minutes until thick. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla.
Stir until butter melts.
Place plastic over.
Let cool 15 minutes.
Stir; pour into shell.
Cover.
Refrigerate 3 hours until set.
