American Chop Suey - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef
salt
brown sauce or barbecue sauce
1 large onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 pt. can tomatoes
1/2 c. raw wet rice
1 c. chopped celery
1 small can mushrooms and juice
salt and pepper to taste
Preparation

Brown ground beef in bacon grease or oil in an iron skillet or large frying pan; drain.
Season with salt and brown sauce or barbecue sauce.
To this, add onion, green pepper, tomatoes, rice, celery, mushrooms, salt and pepper.
Leave these ingredients spread over meat in layers as they are.
Cover and cook very slowly on low heat for 1 hour.
Serve with a large spoon without stirring.
Makes a wonderful meal served with salad and rolls.
