Edwardian English Muffins - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 cake compressed or 1 pkg. dry yeast
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 c. lukewarm water
1 1/4 c. milk, scalded
3 1/2 to 4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
3/4 c. enriched cornmeal
Preparation

Soften yeast in lukewarm water (use warm water for dry yeast). Pour scalded milk over sugar, salt and butter.
Cool to lukewarm. Beat in egg and 1 cup flour.
Add softened yeast and cornmeal. Stir in more flour to make a soft dough.
