Anise Christmas Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. sugar
    5 eggs
    1/2 lb. butter
    2 1/2 lb. flour
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    3 tsp. anise oil
Preparation
    Mix ingredients with flour until dry enough to roll out on a floured surface without sticking to rolling pin.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 minutes or until pale gold.
    Decorate with colored sugar or small candies, warm milk-confectioners sugar mix.
    Put in tightly covered container; cover with wax paper and on top of that lay a piece of lettuce or apple slice on top.
    This will soften cookies.
