Pear Preserves - cooking recipe

Peel, slice and wash pears. As you slice them, put them in a pot of slightly salted water. This keeps them from turning dark until you finish slicing. When all of the pears are sliced, take them out of the water and rinse them. Measure 2 parts fruit and 1 part sugar into a large pot. Cook slow until sugar melts. Turn up heat so they will boil hard for 1 1/2 hours. Stir occasionally. Pears turn red when they are ready.
