Old-Fashioned Biscuits - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. butter, margarine or shortening
3/4 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar in mixing bowl.
Cut in butter or shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
With fork, stir in buttermilk to make a soft dough.
Turn out onto lightly floured board and knead about 10 times to form a smooth ball.
Do not overknead or biscuits will not be tender. Roll out to a 6 x 6-inch square.
Place on ungreased baking sheet. With knife, cut dough into 12 portions; don't separate.
Leave biscuits in squares.
Bake at 400\u00b0 until golden, about 15 minutes.
