Date Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. boiling water, poured over dates
    1 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 c. nuts
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine dates and soda; pour boiling water over dates, then set aside. Cream together sugar, shortening and eggs.
    Add remaining ingredients. Add the date mixture to sugar mixture. Bake in 9 x 13-inch pan at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    Serve with Cool Whip.
