Red Cabbage(Serves 6) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium head red cabbage, shredded
    2 eating apples, peeled and cored
    1/2 lb. bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
    1/2 c. vinegar
    1 c. water
    1/3 c. sugar
    2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
    1 bay leaf
    1 medium onion, chopped
    dash of cinnamon
    dash of cloves
Preparation
    Fry bacon until crisp.
    Add shredded cabbage and chopped onion; mix well with bacon and drippings.
    Add vinegar, water, sugar, salt, pepper and spices.
    Bring to a boil; reduce to simmer, cover and cook 45 to 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
