Fruit Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter, softened
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2/3 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. nuts, chopped
    1/2 c. maraschino cherries, halved
    1 c. pitted dates, sliced
    1/2 c. each dried apricots and figs, sliced
    very fine granulated sugar
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each. Add sifted dry ingredients, nuts and fruit; mix well.
    Spread batter into a greased 9-inch square pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    Let stand in pan until cool, or overnight, if desired. Cut into 3 x 1-inch bars.
    Roll each bar in very fine granulated sugar.
    Store in airtight container.
    Will ship well, if airtight. Can be frozen.
