Romantic Torte(Cake) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. Hershey's Kisses or bars
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. hot water
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 small pkg. dates
    1/2 c. shortening (butter or oleo)
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sugar
    4 eggs, beaten
    2 1/3 c. flour
Preparation
    Pour hot water over baking soda and dates; cool and set aside. Cream shortening.
    Add sugar, eggs and vanilla; mix well. Alternate flour and date mixture into the batter; mix well.
    Place 2/3 of batter in Bundt pan; sprinkle with 1/2 of the nuts and Kisses (or bars, broken up).
    Pour the rest of the batter on top; top with remaining nuts and Kisses.
    Bake for 1 hour, or until brown.
