Crisp Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers
    6 medium onions, chopped
    3 cloves garlic or 1/8 tsp. garlic powder for each clove
    1 green pepper, chopped
    1/3 c. pickling salt
    3 c. white vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Mix cucumbers, onions, garlic and green pepper.
    Add salt. Cover with ice cubes.
    Mix.
    Add more ice on top.
    Let stand 3 hours, then drain.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Heat to boil and seal.
    Makes 6 to 8 pints.
    Store in refrigerator.
