Savory Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head red cabbage
    1 c. finely chopped onions
    2 large apples, peeled and chopped
    1/4 c. red wine vinegar
    6 Tbsp. light brown sugar
    1 stick margarine
    1 c. dry white wine
    2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    In large kettle, saute onion in butter until soft.
    Add cabbage; cook over low heat, stirring often, for 10 minutes.
    Add the apples, wine, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper; mix well. Cover kettle; lower heat and simmer for 1 hour, stirring several times.
    Uncover kettle; raise heat.
    Cook until all liquid is absorbed.
    Pour into large serving bowl.
    Makes 8 servings.
