Ingredients

3/4 c. melted shortening or substitute 1/2 c. oil
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. apple pie spice
Preparation

Mix sugar, molasses and egg with oil or shortening; set aside. Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon and spice mix.
Add molasses mixture to flour mixture; blend and chill about 1 hour. Roll into balls 1 1/2-inch in diameter.
Place on greased cookie sheets.
Flatten with fork tines.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
