5 Year Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 lb. cucumbers
    1 heaping c. salt
    1 gal. water
    1 gal. vinegar
    14 tsp. powdered alum
    8 lb. sugar
    1 box pickling spices
Preparation
    Use stone jar, plastic tub or something like that.
    Put in layer of cucumbers, layer of sugar and so on until all is used. Add spices.
    Using your hand, mix from the top to bottom until sugar is dissolved.
    This will make the syrup.
    Store in same container or put in glass jars.
    Will keep for a long time.
