Mom'S Clam Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (6 1/2 oz.) cans clams
    1/2 c. onion, chopped fine
    1 c. celery, chopped fine
    2 c. potatoes, chopped small
    3/4 c. butter
    3/4 c. flour
    1 qt. half and half
    1/2 tsp. salt and pepper
    1/2 tsp. sugar
Preparation
    Drain clams and pour over vegetables.
    Add water to cover. Cook until tender, about 20 minutes.
    In separate pan, melt butter and add flour.
    Blend and cook 1 minute.
    Add cream.
    Stir with whip utensil until smooth and thickened.
    Add to vegetables and clams; mix well.
    Season with salt, pepper and sugar.
    Serves a lot (10).
