Raisin Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or margarine
    1 lb. (2 1/4 c.) brown sugar
    dash of salt
    1 c. light corn syrup
    1 (15 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. raisins
Preparation
    Place raisins in buttered 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
    Combine 3/4 cup butter or margarine and 1 cup brown sugar in saucepan; cook and stir to hard ball stage (254\u00b0).
    Pour over raisins.
    Top with 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces, spreading as they melt.
    Chill until firm; cut in pieces.
