Ingredients

2 qt. whole tomatoes
1 or 2 loaves day-old bread
1/2 stick butter
salt
pepper
Preparation

Blend, stir or squeeze tomatoes into small pieces.
Put in a pot and simmer.
Add butter, salt and pepper to taste.
Crumble bread into small pieces.
Stir in tomatoes until mixture is very moist and very thick.
Butter pan and pour mixture into it.
Bake at 350\u00b0 to 400\u00b0 until firm and top is slightly brown.
(Leftover biscuits may be used in place of loaf bread.)
