Strawberry Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 baked (9-inch) pie shell
    1 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 Tbsp. butter (optional)
    1 qt. fresh strawberries (you can use frozen)
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    Mash enough berries to make 1 cup pulp.
    Combine sugar and cornstarch.
    Mix well.
    Add water.
    Stir and add pulp.
    Cook, stirring constantly, until thick and translucent, about 10 minutes. Stir in butter and cool.
    Place remaining uncooked berries in bottom of cooled pie shell.
    Cover with cooked mixture. Refrigerate at least 2 hours and serve with whipped cream.
    (If you use frozen berries, thaw and drain, then use juice instead of water.)
