Tom Thumb Cookie Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. brown sugar
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 c. coconut
    1 c. flour, sifted
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs, well beaten
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. nuts
Preparation
    Combine shortening and salt, add 1/2 cup of brown sugar. Cream thoroughly.
    Add 1 cup flour and blend.
    Spread mixture in baking pan that is greased.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
    Add remaining 1 cup of brown sugar and vanilla to the well beaten eggs.
    Beat until thick and foamy.
    Then add 2 tablespoons flour, baking powder, coconut, nuts and blend.
    Spread this over baked mixture.
    Return to oven (325\u00b0) and bake 25 minutes.
    Cool and cut into bars.
    Use 8 x 12-inch pan.
