Best Of All Strawberry Shortcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. lard
    1 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1/2 c. flour
    4 to 6 Tbsp. water
Preparation
    Sift flour, salt and sugar together and mix with lard until mixture has a mealy texture.
    Add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, only using what is necessary to make dough hold together.
    Roll out.
    Spread on back of pie tin.
    Prick with fork and bake until golden brown.
    Prepare strawberries, sweeten to taste and slightly crush.
    Just before serving, break up pastry dough in pieces and mix with strawberries.
    Add desired amount of rich cream.
    Serve in sherbet dishes.
