Texas Chili - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. ground chuck
1 c. chopped onion
5 Tbsp. chili powder
2 tsp. cumin seed
2 cloves garlic, minced or 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
2 cans Franco-American beef gravy or 2 c. beef broth
2 (16 oz.) cans tomatoes
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
3 (16 oz.) cans red kidney beans
1/4 c. cornmeal
Preparation

Brown beef.
Cook onion with chili and garlic until just tender.
Transfer both to Dutch oven or deep cooking pan.
Add gravy, tomatoes, salt and pepper.
Cook on low heat for 25 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add beans and cornmeal.
Stir for 5 minutes, until thickened.
Makes 14 cups.
