Fruit Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 can (15 1/4 oz.) pineapple tidbits, drained
    1 small can mandarin oranges, drained
    1 small box vanilla pudding and pie filling (not instant)
    1 small jar maraschino cherries, drained
    2 or 3 sliced bananas (optional)
Preparation
    Drain pineapple juice and mandarin orange juice into saucepan and heat.
    When hot (do not boil) add box of vanilla pudding and pie filling.
    Mix well and cook until thickened.
    Set aside to cool and then stir in the pineapple tidbits and mandarin oranges. Refrigerate.
