Deluxe Rice Pilaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. dates, dried
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 c. olive oil
    1/3 c. slivered almonds
    1/2 c. onions, chopped
    3/4 c. long grain rice
    1/4 c. orzo
    1 c. water
    1 c. orange juice
    2 chicken bouillon cubes
    1 1/2 Tbsp. crushed dried mint
    1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Soak dates
    in
    water
    for 30 minutes.
    Pour off excess and set
    aside.
    Saute almonds in olive oil until light brown. Remove. Add onion and cook until soft.
    Add rice and orzo and saute.
    Add water,
    juice, bouillon cubes, mint and cinnamon. Bring to
    a boil, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.
    Stir in dates and almonds.
    Cover and
    let
    stand 5 minutes.
    Serves 4 to 6.
