Festive Blitz Torte - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 3/4 c. cake flour
2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. shortening (soft)
2/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs (unbeaten)
4 egg whites
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. slivered blanched almonds
Preparation

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar.
Place shortening in bowl; add dry ingredients and add milk and vanilla.
Mix until flour is moistened, then beat 2 minutes at medium speed.
Add 2 eggs and beat 1 minute longer. Pour batter into 2 (9-inch) paper-lined pans.
Beat egg whites until foamy; add 1 cup sugar gradually, beating to form very stiff peaks.
Spoon egg whites on batter.
Sprinkle with almonds.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
Cool and remove.
Put custard in between.
