Ingredients

1 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
3 1/2 cups flour
2 cups candied cherries
2 cups dates
1 1/2 cups pecans
1 1/2 cups walnuts
1 cup candied pineapple
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and beat well.
Stir in buttermilk.
Sift dry ingredients mixing well.
Add fruit and nuts.
Drop by teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes.
