Brown Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. raisins
    2 c. water
    1 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. melted shortening
    1 egg beaten
    2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped nuts (small)
Preparation
    Cook raisins and water 10 minutes and cool (slowly so water doesn't evaporate).
    Mix together flour, baking soda and salt.
    Mix all wet ingredients, then add dry.
    Cut lids from 4 (Number 2) vegetable cans.
    Grease well, fill 2/3 full and place on baking sheet.
    Bake 1 hour at 325\u00b0.
    Use bottom shelf in oven.
    Cool 5 minutes and remove from cans.
