Ingredients

1 c. flour
1 c. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 c. cold water
3 Tbsp. cooking oil
1 tsp. sugar
onions, sliced and separated into rings
oil for deep frying
Preparation

Stir dry ingredients together.
Beat egg; add water and oil. Mix well.
Add liquids to dry ingredients, mixing with fork (more water may be needed to make batter).
Dredge onion rings through batter and deep fry until golden brown.
