Chow Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c green tomatoes
    8 c chopped cabbage
    1 1/2 c chopped onions
    2 c vinegar
    1 tsp black pepper
    1 c sugar
    1 heaping tsp salt
    1/2 tsp whole allspice
    1/2 tsp whole clove
    Hot peppers (opt)
Preparation
    Add vinegar, black pepper, sugar, and salt to green tomatoes, cabbage and the onions.
    Tie up clove and allspice in cloth, drop in mixtures and add water if needed to cook for 1 hour or until tender.
    Add hot pepper if wanted.
    Can in jars.
