Ingredients

1/2 c. granulated sugar
pinch of salt
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 c. vinegar
1/4 c. water
3 c. red beets
2 tsp. butter
Preparation

Mix together dry ingredients.
Add vinegar and water.
Cook 5 minutes; add beets.
Let stand 30 minutes before serving.
Heat to boiling point and add butter.
