Uncooked Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cucumbers, sliced
    1 c. salt
    3 tsp. alum
    vinegar
    1 small bag spices
    turmeric
    7 c. sugar
Preparation
    Add 1 cup salt to the sliced cucumbers.
    Cover with water; let set 3 days.
    Drain.
    Wash in cold water.
    Add the alum; cover with water for 24 hours.
    Rinse in cold water 3 times.
    Put back in jar.
    Cover with vinegar.
    Let set 7 days.
    Drain vinegar.
    Put 3 cups sugar, small bag of spice and 1 teaspoon turmeric.
    Let stand 24 hours.
    Add 2 more cups of sugar.
    On the third day, add 2 more cups sugar.
    That makes 7 cups.
    Your pickles are done!!!
