Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. green split peas
1 meaty ham bone, or 1 c. finely chopped ham
1 1/2 c. diced onion
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. marjoram
1/4 tsp. cumin
1 c. finely diced celery
1 c. finely diced carrots
2 qt. cold water
Preparation

Soak peas in water overnight, or simmer 2 minutes and let soak 1 hour.
Add ham, onion and seasoning.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer 1 1/2 hours.
Add vegetables and simmer 40 minutes.
If too thick, add more water.
