Waldorf Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening or margarine
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 oz. red food coloring
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    2 1/4 c. plain flour
    1 scant tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation
    Cream first 3 ingredients.
    Make paste of food coloring and cocoa and add to mixture.
    Mix plain flour, salt, vanilla and buttermilk.
    Add to mixture.
    Blend in soda, then vinegar.
    Don't beat; just blend.
    Bake in four cake layer pans at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 30 minutes.
    Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.
