New Netherlands Cole Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp. mustard
    1 Tbsp. butter or oleo
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    2 Tbsp. cream
Preparation
    Heat first 6 ingredients to boiling in saucepan.
    Add some of the hot mixture to the slightly beaten egg, then stir into the hot vinegar in saucepan.
    Cook until mixture thickens and boils. Remove from heat.
    Beat in 2 tablespoons cream.
    (I use milk instead of cream.)
    Pour while hot over 3 cups finely shredded cabbage.
    Chill; serve cold.
