Nonnie'S Shortnin' Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2/3 c. sugar (extra fine granules)
    2 1/2 c. flour (1/2 c. for kneading)
Preparation
    Soften butter at room temperature and cream with sugar.
    Add 2 cups of flour, then add 1/2 cup extra flour, if needed, while kneading with hands.
    (Only add flour until dough cracks, not crumbles.)
    Place on cookie sheet and press and smooth until it covers the pan.
    Sprinkle with sugar; prick all over with fork. Bake in slow oven at 275\u00b0 for almost an hour (if 1/2-inch thick). Should be light golden brown when finished.
    Cut into squares while still hot, then let cool on pan.
    Great, easy dessert.
