Country Captain Chicken - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 chicken, cut up or 8 meaty pieces
    1 clove garlic
    1 large can tomatoes, cut up
    1 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. thyme
    1 medium onion, sliced thin
    1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    3 tsp. salt, divided
    1 tsp. curry powder
    1/2 c. oil
Preparation
    In medium saucepan, saute onions, green pepper and garlic in butter until tender, but not brown.
    Add tomatoes and simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes.
    Stir in 2 teaspoons salt, pepper, curry powder and thyme.
    Simmer 5 minutes; set aside.
