Rigatoni With Ham Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. olive oil
    2 large garlic cloves, minced
    1/4 lb. lean boiled ham, sliced 1/4-inch thick and 1/4-inch dice
    35 oz. Italian peeled tomatoes, with their juice
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 lb. rigatoni
    1 c. grated Romano cheese
    1/4 c. minced fresh basil
    salt
Preparation
    Heat the olive oil in a large skillet.
    Add the garlic and ham; saute over moderate heat until the garlic is lightly browned, 3 to 5 minutes.
    Add the tomatoes with their juice and the pepper. Bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes.
    Cook the pasta and toss with the sauce.
