Elegant Beef Wellington - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (6 lb.) whole beef tenderloin roast
    1 (17 1/4 oz.) frozen puffed pastry
    1 medium size onion, minced
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. mushrooms, finely chopped
    1/2 tsp. thyme leaves, dried
    1/2 tsp. salt and pepper
    2 Tbsp. red wine
    1/2 lb. liver pate
    1 large egg, separated
    2 tsp. milk
Preparation
    Can use eye of round, not as tender, but still very good.
