Old Fashioned Stack Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sifted flour
    2 Tbsp. ginger
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 c. margarine
    1 c. light brown sugar
    3 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 c. fresh molasses
    homemade applesauce
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients 3 times; cream margarine and sugar, add molasses and add eggs, one at a time.
    Add dry ingredients and buttermilk alternately.
    Use regular 9-inch cake pans.
    Preheat and grease well.
    Pour batter in bottom of pans as thin as you can to cover bottom of pan.
    Makes 10 to 12 thin layers.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
    Let cool.
    Stack using fresh applesauce between all layers and on top and sides.
    This recipe is over 100 years old.
