Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lentils
    1/4 lb. smoked ham
    1 small onion, minced
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    1 bay leaf
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 cube chicken or beef bouillon
    1 large carrot, grated
    6 c. water
    1 lemon
Preparation
    Soak lentils for 10 minutes; drain and rinse.
    Combine all ingredients in a medium pot.
    Bring to a boil, then simmer until tender, for about 2 hours.
    Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add additional water if necessary.
    Serve with a lemon wedge. Squeeze lemon over soup before eating.
