Spinach And Potato Gratin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. butter or margarine
    3 large shallots, thinly sliced
    2 - 10 oz. pkg. frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
    1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. coarsely ground black pepper
    3 lbs. all purpose potatoes (9 medium), peeled and cut into 1/4 in. thick slices
    4 oz. Gruyere cheese, shredded (1 cup)
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1 c. heavy or whipping cream
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease shallow 3 quart casserole.
    In 10 inch skillet, melt margarine or butter over medium heat - add shallots and cook 5 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally.
    Remove skillet from heat and stir in spinach, nutmeg, 1/4 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. pepper.
