Italian Spaghetti Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. onion slices
    2 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 lb. ground beef
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    2 (1 lb.) cans (4 c.) tomatoes
    2 (8 oz.) cans (2 c.) seasoned tomato sauce
    1 (3 oz.) can boiled sliced mushrooms
    1/4 c. chopped parsley
    1 1/2 tsp. oregano or sage
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1/2 tsp. monosodium glutamate
    1 bay leaf
    1 c. water
Preparation
    Cook onion in hot oil until golden.
    Add meat and garlic; brown lightly.
    Add remaining ingredients; simmer, uncovered, 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until thick.
    Remove bay leaf.
    Serve on hot cooked spaghetti.
    Pass bowl of grated Parmesan cheese.
    Makes 6 servings.
