Fudgy Oatmeal Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. instant rolled oats
    1 1/2 c. boiling water
    1 c. white flour
    1 1/2 c. white sugar
    1/4 c. cocoa or carob powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening, at room temperature
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    1 to 2 Tbsp. powdered sugar
Preparation
    Stir the oats and boiling water together, then set aside.
    In large bowl, mix white sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Add the oat mixture, shortening and vanilla and beat well again. Add eggs.
    Pour into a 9 x 13-inch greased pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 minutes.
    Let cool, then sprinkle with powdered sugar or your favorite frosting.
