Texas Hash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    2 onions, chopped
    1 tsp. chili powder
    3 tsp. shortening
    1 green bell pepper, chopped
    2 c. whole tomatoes
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/2 c. uncooked rice
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    Mix ground beef, onion, chili powder, shortening and bell pepper all together.
    Add tomatoes and salt and pepper to taste. Place in baking dish.
    Top with uncooked rice.
    Add water.
    Cover with lid or aluminum foil.
    Bake for 45 minutes.
