Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter
    2 c. sugar
    4 c. sifted flour
    1 lb. candied cherries, halved
    1 lb. pecans (2 1/4 c.), coarsely chopped
    1 lb. candied pineapple, chopped
    1 lb. dates, chopped
    6 eggs, separated
    1 tsp. lemon extract
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add egg yolks and other ingredients. Add beaten egg whites last.
    Cook in 2 greased 9-inch loaf pans at 300\u00b0 until done, approximately 2 hours.
    Cake is done when it pulls away from side of pan.
