Corn Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 to 3/4 c. oil
    1/2 c. flour
    1 c. chopped onion
    1 c. chopped bell pepper
    2 c. chopped tomatoes
    1/2 can tomato paste
    3 c. water
    16 oz. frozen corn
    1 lb. cubed ham or 1 1/2 lb. smoked sausage
Preparation
    Make roux (medium brown color).
    Add onions and bell peppers. Cook 5 minutes.
    Add tomato products and water; mix well.
    Add all other ingredients.
    Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
    Reduce heat; simmer, partially covered, for 1 hour.
    Great with cornbread.
