Candied Cucumbers - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. or 7 pt. cucumbers
    2 c. lime to 8 1/2 qt. water
    1 c. vinegar (5 percent, white)
    2 oz. red food coloring
    1 Tbsp. alum
    enough water to cover
Preparation
    Soak 7 pounds or 7 pints of cucumbers in 2 cups of lime to 8 1/2-quarts of water.
    Let stand 24 hours.
    Drain and wash.
    Soak in cold water for 4 hours.
    Simmer cucumbers in 1 cup of vinegar, 2 ounces red food coloring, 1 tablespoon alum and enough water to cover for 2 hours.
    Drain and set aside.
