Sweet Lunch Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. sliced cucumbers
    8 onions, sliced
    2 green peppers, sliced
    1/2 c. pickling salt
    1 tsp. celery seed
    2 tsp. dry mustard
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    4 c. red vinegar
    4 c. sugar
Preparation
    Place cucumbers, onions and peppers in layers with 1/2 cup salt.
    Cover with ice; chill for 3 hours. Drain well.
    Make syrup of vinegar, sugar and spices; bring to boil.
    Add cucumber mixture; bring back to boil slowly.
    Boil 1/2 hour with stirring (very low boil).
    Pack in jars.
    Makes 8 pints.
    Good with soup beans.
